Many Singaporeans are big fans of the Finnish education system. I totally feel the same way towards SuperPark, which is “designed with a Finnish heart and Finnish know-how”. The Finns sure know how to design play!
When I first watched the video on “The Man Behind SuperPark”, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was watching the right video. Transported to Finland’s icy forested mountains, it was fascinating to learn that SuperPark was born out of a father’s wish to play together with his child, instead of watching from the indoor playground’s cafe.
This was such a great idea that SuperPark now has 13 branches in Finland, and operates in 5 other countries worldwide, even though the first SuperPark only started in 2012.
And this is the awesomeness that is SuperPark Singapore.
The park is divided into three broad “activity areas” – the Adventure Area (flying fox, pedal car racing track), the Game Arena (basketball, street soccer), and Freestyle Hall (skate and scoot, trampolines, climbing wall) You can get a short synopsis of each activity from this official page.
Indeed, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, playing together with my kids and exploring all the various activities. In our unforgiving weather, it really is a boon to be able to engage in physical activities in air-conditioned comfort.
We shot hoops together…
Pedalled around together…
And it was heartening to see so many other families enjoying themselves, playing together.
Younger children would enjoy these activities, in a dedicated playgym area.
There is also a large Adventure City Play structure where adults and kids alike can clamber around and whoosh down steep tube slides.
I saw so many kids having a whale of a time at the basketball and street soccer courts. Making friends and just having a fun time.
Indeed, we are made to move!!
Our favourite stations
Top on our list was definitely the “Trampoline + Video Game” activity. We all went at least three times each, and it was a real workout – never underestimate how hard you can make your body work when you are trying to win a video game.
A close second for the girls was the Ninja Track. They love watching Ninja Warrior, so this was their chance to attempt a kid-sized one. But don’t be fooled, it’s not easy, even for me!
Apart from the Ninja Track, nothing trains grit like a rock climbing wall, especially challenging ones like these!
Third favourite on our list was the Tube Slide. It was FAST!
A close fourth was the Flying Fox Zip line.
You’d be surprised but this very simple floor mat game made it to the top 5 for the girls!
A test of speed and agility, they had so much fun trying to beat the machine.
And there is no tougher machine to beat than Robo Keeper! This computerised robot goalkeeper is certainly a tough one to beat. I tried twice (3 kicks each time) to no avail.
B wasn’t successful either, but one boy was, and I caught it on video! It’s the second last clip in the video below, which is a round up of some of our favourite moments at SuperPark.
Ticket Info
For such a wide range of activities in such a massive space, tickets start from $22 on a weekday from 6pm – 9pm. Other tickets are priced differently depending on when you decide to go.
Adults and children above age 3 all pay the same price, but it makes for a nice treat for a special occasion like a birthday though!
Tips for a fun time
- Don’t forget to bring your SuperPark non-slip grip socks if you already have them. Otherwise, they are chargeable at $3 a pair.
- Bring lots of water to hydrate yourself with.
- Bring covered shoes as they are necessary for the Clip and Climb wall, as well as the Skate and Scoot park.
- Bring a sweater if you think you might get chilly – we didn’t need one cos of the non-stop action!
- Wait patiently for your turn – most of the time, the queues move really fast cos each game is only 1-2 minutes long. If a queue is too long, walk around and try something else first cos there’s certainly another activity with a shorter queue.
p.s. SuperPark is conducting Super Day Camps during the June school holidays! Here’s a great video on what to expect, and check out this official link for more details on where to park your kids for a super day. *wink*
