Spring Surprise
Spring Surprise is Gardens by the Bay’s line-up of festive activities and performances around the Lunar New Year season.
This year, you can view the specially choreographed “Carps Leaping Over the Dragon’s Gate”, which is an LED performance rich in Chinese culture and legends.
The exhilarating Lion Dance on Poles, as well as performances by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Ding Yi Music Company will certainly immerse you in the Lunar New Year mood.
Here’s the list of programmes for easy reference.
How about Dahlia Dreams at the Flower Dome? I took a spin through my favourite cooled conservatory and here’s what I have to report.
Dahlia Dreams @ the Flower Dome
This year the Dome is decked out in a “Chinese Gardens” theme, replete with pavillions and lanterns.
I enjoyed myself strolling through the Dome, basking in the quiet, admiring the loveliness of petal and bud, as well as observing the sweet exchanges between elderly couples like the one above.
Apart from large blooming dahlias, there were a few peach blossom shrubs.
I loved the fact that daffodils were on display too, as the narcissus family always signals spring, be it in Asian or Western cultures.
And these petite beauties always stop me in my tracks.
Although I’ve been to the Flower Dome more times than I can count, I always manage to see a new flower that I’ve never encountered before. Look at those exotic ones below!
I always appreciate the fact that there are informative signs around the displays, especially useful for cross-cultural tourists!
I took this photo on a whim, if you visit, let me know whether you can guess which part of the dome this is!
