We were back at Resin Play recently for their Resin and Acrylic Christmas Ornaments workshop.
These ornaments have an acrylic base and we were there to coat it with our own resin design!
As they had enjoyed our previous Resin Play workshop so much, I was really looking forward to bonding with the girls at another craft session at this lovely space.
This time we would get to play with the usual quality non-toxic resin, metallic pigments, coloured powder pigments and lots of glitter and flakes! The last time we had mainly dabbled with acrylic paint pigments and acrylic shapes to embed in our resin.
Apart from being a wonderful way to spend time making memories with the kids, I think the end product also makes for a great handmade Christmas gift for grandparents to add to their Christmas tree, to look back upon in years to come!
There’s a range of 9 Christmas shapes to choose from: Snowflake, Snowman, Angel, Reindeer, Christmas tree, Star, Heart, and Classic Ornament ball and Christmas sock.
Ribbons will be provided and the lovely elves at Resin Play will drill the necessary holes for you after your ornaments have cured. Then, you can string them up on your own when you collect your cured ornaments.
We chose our 3 shapes each, our set of 6 pigments/glitter, and were raring to go!
Jane, who was teaching us that day, went through an interesting introduction to resin and various techniques of crafting with resin, which is both versatile and very durable. Not to mention the fact that it is a great medium upon which to unleash your creativity!
Jane provided a useful demonstration on how to create various patterns and how to work this Doming technique for the best results. I appreciated the fact that classes are always kept small, so you can always get help and will never have to walk alone, so to speak.
We were so absorbed in our crafting that we only took photos when we were almost done. Tadah!
I was very impressed with the girls’ creations! The wonderful thing about resin art is that it gives so much leeway for free expression and everyone can create their own unique masterpiece.
I decided to create an ornament in my favourite hues, such that it could look seasonal, and also be a thing of perennial beauty.
Beaming faces all around! The girls really had a lot of fun and were able to do this wholly independently.
The 2 hour workshop is $85 per person, and is one of the workshops at Resin Play that is suitable for children aged 7 and above. You may also top up $30 each for an additional set of 3 ornaments.
If you’re looking for a meaningful holiday activity with the kids, where you can make an ornament that you can keep for posterity, this is the workshop for you!
I love their workshop space, which is full of natural light and super conveniently located at The Adelphi, just a stone’s throw away from City Hall MRT. It is also right next to the beautiful and inspiring National Gallery.
All participants can enjoy 10% off resin and mould supplies (except already discounted starter kits or bundled kits) on the day of the workshop.
If you are booking for a group of 5 pax and above, please contact them to get a special rate.
