Read for Books 2023 – Best Way to Donate Books

Read for Books 2023 is simply the best way to donate books!

I have been a fan of Read for Books since it started years ago, and am proud to have galvanised my organisation into supporting it to the tune of more than 5000 participants (including family members) last year!

Here are those you will benefit this year, simply by reading!

All you have to do is clock your reading time – find out more and register here!

We are about two-thirds through the month of July, and this year, I decided to track our family’s reading via the Notes app for easy final collation and data entry. My kids and I read quite a lot to de-stress (and for the purpose of book studies with our peer mentoring groups and general edification) so it’s just a matter of recording the minutes for a good purpose!

Here’s what we’ve done so far, hope it spurs you on to do the same, if you haven’t already started! 9 more days to go, whee!

(By the way, I write regular book reviews on Instagram @bluebottlebooks too! The bookstagram community is simply fab. Here’s my earlier plug for Read for Books 2023 there.)

The awesome possum NLB has also lined up a series of virtual and physical sessions – here’s one that’s happening today at Serangoon Library.

I participated in a virtual one themed on “Life Reminders from Children” and the 2 NLB librarians (?) present introduced 6 interesting children’s books to pique further reading! We spent 15 mins virtually reading and clocking time for more book donations, hurrah.

What are you waiting for? Grab a bunch of friends or colleagues (15 mins of a dept mtg is a great way to get scale!) and bond through reading and doing good!
