2023 was the year when I happily met my Goodreads Book Challenge twice!
I started out as usual with a target of 100 books. Then midway in the year (about August) I reached that! And so I set another target of 150 by December, and barely made it on the last day of the year!
I love the fact that Goodreads has a “My Year in Books” summary page – it’s not easy to locate though. Go to “My Books” and keep scrolling down till you find it.
I thought the average length of 186 pages per book was quite decent! Relatively fewer picture books this year – lots of middle grade fiction from Definitely Books Kids, sent to the kids and I for Instagram / Bookstagram reviews, and 2 books per month from Truth for Life which provides the best steady diet of biblically-sound Christian literature to encourage and inspire.
There were a few other books that I was not able to add as they were not listed in Goodreads (and it’s so hard to add books these days) because they were written by Singaporean authors and published by smaller houses. Such as “I paint my Singapore” by Yip Yew Cheong, a book by Dr Tan Lai Yong, and another book called “Footprints in the Snow” by Dr Dixie Chua.
Love the colour from these pages! Thank you Goodreads for making it so easy to look back on the year and all these beautiful book covers.
Energised by this accomplishment, I’ve already keyed in my Goodreads Reading Challenge 2024 target of 100 books, and started reading in earnest. Have completed 2 books that I began in December. Onwards! Do join me too!
