《吹跑啦！》
This one reminded me of an Oliver Jeffers book. Rob Biddulph is British too, and his books have a quirky sense of humour.
He has written a number of books with Penguin Blue as a protagonist. I liked this one. Its principles of aerodynamics are not very scientific, but a good tale should never be limited by the laws of physics. Plus how cute is that seal?
Look closely at the bottom left corner of the photo below and you’ll see a very subtle, almost-invisible print that I found super cute.
As the polar adventurers decided that the tropics were too humid and decided to head home, they didn’t realise that there was a stowaway! Spot him.
Rob has written about three books in this series that have been translated to other languages, and he’s also written a number of other picture books. He is first and foremost an illustrator, and also the official World Book Day Illustrator for 2019 and 2020 *wow*.
The original is in rhyming text, which makes me really want to find the English versions too – though my kids have kinda outgrown picture books, I certainly haven’t!
《Grace说恒心》
This is a beautifully inspiring book, which reminded me of Peter H Reynold’s “Dot”. Written by bilingual Taiwanese author Eric Liao for his daughter Grace, it is a simple story of perseverance, something that I’m still learning too.
It is when we can encourage others by our example that we have truly internalised a virtue.
Eight year old B managed to read through the entire book with a little help. So happy to have found something that she was willing to read!
Very heartwarming story of the author.
《妈妈不是超人》
的确，妈妈不是超人！想做超人的妈妈不实际，也往往会累坏自己或牵累别人。
特别喜欢这本书，因为它描述妈妈的心声。
每个人都想把妈妈当成超人，妈妈累倒了。终于终于，妈妈能好好的歇一歇。
每个妈妈得记得-休息是为了走更长的路。不要因为面子问题，一切都往自己的肩上扛。就算身体没受损，精神上也难以避免
妈妈不是超人，妈妈是女人。让我们踏踏实实的做人，现实点儿！
《莫里》
“莫里” is “Morrie” in English. Took me a while to discover that. The ten year old Eurasian boy in the story is an unlikely friend of his ten year old neighbour and classmate. They are as different as chalk and cheese.
He is rather sickly, and I found the tone and plot of this book pretty similar to The Someday Suitcase by Corey Ann Haydu (highly recommended!), which is also about two very close young friends in a totally platonic friendship.

I loved how simple the words in the book were, and was astounded that almost-eleven year old K took to it readily, and had reached page 34 in just one day. Her first proper Chinese language chapter book!
作者陈帅的这本书也赢得了青铜葵花奖。故事里的情节和孩子们的生活息息相关，即使是新加坡同学也能有所认同。连我自己读起来也轻易的被虽浅白但生动的方块字卷入故事中。真的很庆幸找到了这本书，让我们家的小姑娘起步迈上热爱华文小说的道路！
