“Every Moment Holy” includes this liturgy for students, which really spoke to my heart. Such a great perspective, and so important for every student to hold close in their journey.
Simply beautiful.
The rest of the book is a gem too – deeply theological, yet quirky in many parts, as prayer is steeped in the most everyday of occurrences.
I can’t put it better than the publishers did on their official website, so here is what the series is about:
EVERY MOMENT HOLY brings new prayers for the practices and rhythms that form us. These prayers are ways of reminding us that our lives are shot through with sacred purpose even when, especially when, we are too busy or too caught up in our busyness to notice.
The series features two volumes, the first contains prayers for the ordinary events of daily life — liturgies for “Feasting with Friends” or “Laundering” or “the First Hearthfire of the Season.” The second volume contains prayers for seasons of dying and grieving — liturgies such as “A Liturgy for the Scattering of Ashes” or “A Liturgy for the Loss of a Spouse” or “A Liturgy for the Wake of a National Tragedy.”
Every Moment Holy was published in May 2021, but I only heard of it when I received it as part of my Truth for Life TruthPartner subscription. This soft faux-leather bound pocket book edition is simply gorgeous, and so handy to bring along. The illustrations which remind me of woodcuts, are full of biblical illusions and symbolism too.
Another prayer that struck me hard recently was this, in the light of all the disaster and suffering that’s happening around the world, and the recently Syrian and Turkish earthquake.
May the Lord give us discernment indeed. Amen.
